Music has been at the centre of my life for as long as I can remember and im confident to say its shaped who I am today. From a very young age I was very much into Syththesized music , especially Jean Michelle Jarre (one of my all time heroes). Along side this I loved early electro house and Detroit techno so naturally , was blown away with the late 80’s acid house explosion and even more so by the early 90’s Rave explosion, and this is where my passion really set in. I first went on a pair of decks at the tender age of 9 years old (1991), and around this time got 1xdeck for Christmas, now….clearly you don’t have to be a dj to understand that this is useless for mixing, but, for beatmatching, this was the best thing you could imagine! Id beatmatch vinyls to tapes,or anything that was playing in the house, and by the time I got my 2nd deck and mixer at 12years old, the learning curve of beatmatching was already mastered! Now, musically , im predominantly Hardcore, always have been, from early breakbeat hardcore right through to todays sounds. Ive loved the evolution of the sound and have the same passion for the sound as I did 20 years ago. Trance was a major influence for me in the 90’s too , especially Paul Oakenfold/Sasha/Digweed to name a few….their ability to seamlessly blend tracks together over the course of an hour or so and leave me feeling like id been on a musical journey really inspired me and applied this same technique to everything I mixed. Today, I concentrate mainly on Uk Hardcore and Hard dance, which while im “here” must mention how impressed and inspiring I find hard dance at the mo , from the techy minimal sounds right through to the tough hardstyle sounds of Europe, I feel this scene has got a lot to offer and has something for everyone. Im loving the Hard dance scene as a whole at the moment, whether it be Breakbeats/Kickdrums/trancey/ravey/techy/fast/slow…..the scene in my eyes is as diverse as its ever been, whatever others may think! Music is a way of life!

I first discovered electronic dance music during the 80s and have been completly hooked ever since. No other music effects me on an emotional scale like edm.I learned to watch out for dance tracks that were in the charts during the 80s and record them on old cassette tapes, around the early Acid House era.My next big leap in the dance music scene was when my cousin played me a dj mix by a guy who id soon come to worship-the now legendary Goa mix by Paul Oakenfold.Amazing and my addiction grew.i listened constantly to his mixes on the Essential Mix and began searching for djs that played similar styles. That was when i discovered Sasha,John Digweed,Nick Warren and the whole Global Underground phenomena & thats when i bought my first set of decks,18yrs on,im still dj'ing and with clubbing trips to Ibiza,Aiya Napa & of course most sat nights in Belfast im still addicted.Trance and Progressive House has changed down the years but my passion for those euphoric hands in the air moments hasnt. My favourite djs are Above & Beyond,i have seen them on a number of occasions and met them twice(top blokes),Jaytech,Jacob Henry and Proff. These guys are rocking my world at the minute and their sounds have helped me through some difficult times in my life and i hope they will continue to do so.NO DANCE MUSIC=NO LIFE :-)

More mixes at mix-sets.com , welcome your comments there too. Twice monthly resident with Pure Progressinve at safehouseradio.co.uk, every 1st and 3rd Monday 7-9pm GMT,, please check it out. I've been djing as a mere resident in local pubs and clubs since the late 80's early 90's.I LIVE for dance music and although I love the dance classics, I love the way dance music has progressed and the current dance music scene seems to have come full circle reintroducing old skool in modern dance music such as Deep House etc.But there is one particular stye(sorry 2 styles) of music that to me has vastly progressed (excuse the pun/s), and that is Trance and Progressive House.Along with the usual great traditional Progressive House and Trance tracks, we have now gained THIS style of Trance and Progressive House with some simply beautiful melodies, both Intrumental AND Vocal, mostly at around 128bpm and this style of Trance (and Prog House)seems to incorporate various styes of music, such as Deep House,Electro House,Future House,Piano House,Techno, Prog House and Trance. My Favourite DJ's are Above & Beyond ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS6Hi2Avoww ),and their label DJ's like Andrew Bayer,Ilan Blunstone,Jason Ross,Maor Levi,Genix & Sunny Lax, Oliver Smith, Grum, Yotto who I believe have paved the way to this new style of Trance and other producers like Fatum,Jaytech,Farius, South Pole, Vintage & Morelli, Paul Arcane, Alex H, Oleg Farrier, Marcus Santoro plus many many more, but sadly none of which I've seen live.Maybe one day...lol.Anyway making do with the large amount of Progressive House/Trance tracks coming out at the moment make everything worth while. If anyone was wondering, yes I'm Cliffie from The Wynnie, Greyhound etc.

Dymka
Dymka

From a very young age, music has been a big part of Dymka’s life. When he was five years old he started playing an organ owned by his grandmother. He also discovered Fleetwood Mac and Eric Clapton cassettes . Impressed by his ten year older cousin he became more and more interested in electronic music. While his school friends were still listening to Metallica and Guns ‘n’Roses, Dymka was spending his time listening to Dune, Snap and 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor. When he was introduced to Trance music he was instantly hooked! Just about a year later Dymka came across Fruity Loops; a demo version came included with a German computer magazine. In the years after that he got to know a wide variety of mainly electronic music. With names like Royksopp to Armin van Buuren, all sorts of Ambient and Psytrance. It wasn’t until his later years that Dymka started mixing music. Investing in a second-hand Pioneer CDJ-400 kit in January 2011, his love for mixing music continued to grow. While looking for great songs to mix, his interest for progressive house, techno, deephouse and minimal continued to grow. Luis Junior, 16 Bit lolitas, Noa Romana & Deersky, F-ACT, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Henry Saiz and many more he considers to be his favourite. Occasionally he turns to Indie Dance and Nudisco. Over the course of 2011 and 2012 Dymka started performing and did so several times in Jyväskylä Finland, Berlin and in Groningen. As of 2013 he has started producing again, as he puts it himself, “a leopard can't change its spots”… Rhythmic beats, sensitive melodies and carefully worked up climaxes are some of the characteristic sounds that are Dymka’s tunes. Dymka – the name Dymka likes to light his pipe, whether it’s before, during or after a session at the turntables. He especially likes the aromatic tobaccos, more often than not complimented with a glass of red wine or whisky. This did not go unnoticed during his time in Finland. A fellow student from the Czech Republic pointed out the fact that a pipe is called dymka in his language. The word appealed to him and shortly after he adopted it as his stage name. DJ Dymka was born. Best Regards, Dymka
